First Trip to the Pumpkin Patch
Happy Halloween Eve everyone!
Caroline had her first visit to the pumpkin patch and it was one of the best experiences of motherhood so far. Her excitement over all of the crazy colors and shapes was so joyous to watch. She's in that stage now where everything needs to go in her mouth, so of course we had to keep her from trying to eat every single pumpkin she saw. Who knew there were so many types of pumpkins! Morgan and I were talking about going to pumpkin patches when we were little and we do not remember there being so many options between types, colors, textures, etc.
This pumpkin patch specifically had all colors and types, but our favorites were the "enchanted" and "fairytale" style pumpkins. I wish we would have got more pictures of those but some of them you can see in the close of pictures of Caro next to greenish pumpkins. You can even see from the picture below the different looking ones to choose from, just from the smaller options. Although I wish the weather had been a little better, we had such a great time and Caro was really excited about everything which made us really excited!
Watching all of her firsts is the most joyous thing I have ever experienced. It really is unlike anything else. I'm constantly wondering what she might be thinking. I can't wait to take her on so many more adventures! We have some really fun things coming up soon like her first Halloween, Thanksgiving, and CHRISTMAS! So much to look forward to! I love our little costumes I picked out for us this year, but I know next year will be so much better because she'll be running around and wanting to go trick or treating.
We have a Friendsgiving coming up, and possibly heading to Kentucky for Thanksgiving. Her first BIG trip! I'm a little nervous but I know we'll make it through. And then we have allllll the fun Christmas activities and of course her first Santa visit! Ok, I feel like I'm getting ahead of myself here because Halloween hasn't come and gone yet, but still, a first time mom can be excited about these things if she wants. :)
Any whooo, we found the perfect pumpkin, took it home, and I had a special Pinterest project I wanted to try, but unfortunately turned into one of those bad Pinterest fails. I don't even think I took a picture of the finished product. Needless to say I was very rusty on my pumpkin carving skills but the specialness of it being her first pumpkin that we carved up sitting in the sun on mom's front porch like I had done years and years ago meant a lot to me. I know she won't remember it, but I will, and I can look back and show her our first traditions. Traditions are very important to me within a family and its important that Morgan and I establish our own. Starting with the annual pumpkin patch visit and pumpkin carving. :) Happy Harvest everyone!
