Independence Day is one of my favorite days of the year for so many reasons. I love the fact that we get a day to celebrate the blessing of our freedoms and rights we have as Americans, and those that fight for those freedoms everyday. I grew up in a military town with friends that came and went because of family members being restationed, and it hurt every time they left but deep down I knew it was all for a reason. I always think about families during the time the Declaration of Independence was signed and how they must have felt when America was declared free. Really take the time today to appreciate just how blessed we are as Americans to have the possibilities that we have living in this country.
Another favorite thing of mine about this day is the food and the fashion! My mother in law makes this amazing four layered tart, full of my favorite fruits and perfect for the 4th of July. It's chalk full of my favorites, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, a cream cheese icing and fluffy white cake. YUM!!
Of course no Independence Day is complete without picking out the cutest red, white, and blue outfit you can find! It's just the cherry on top that red and blue both makes my eyes pop!
My family has a going tradition now of celebrating the 4th in Southport, NC, as it has one of the largest 4th of July celebrations on the East coast! I know I am going to be festive, fancy, but want to be comfortable so I went for a linen short, silk blouse combo with my trusty Keds to keep me comfortable all day and night. Our day goes from family breakfast to festivals in the park, to fireworks so I make sure to be comfy but ready for lots of pictures! What do you are your family like to do on the 4th? Share in the comments! I hope everyone has an amazing Independence Day! Be safe and be blessed!
